International Food and Wine Festival Part 2

Before heading to Epcot, we made an early morning stop at the Magic Kingdom for a few rides and a little Starbucks. Of course, we needed to try a

Mickey Halloween Cinnamon Roll with our coffees. I’ve never enjoyed a spider web as much as this one.

We started our second round of world eats in Morocco. We enjoyed a Kefta Pocket: “Seasoned Ground Beef in a Pita Pocket” and “Spicy Hummus Fries with Cucumber, Tomato, Onions and Tzatziki Sauce.” The seasoning was just perfect and the fries were fun without being too filling.

[Matso’s note: I love tzatziki so much I’d put it on ice cream. Well, maybe not that much.]

Next stop, Hops and Barley next to the American Adventure pavilion for a traditional New England Lobster Roll (YUM) and “Smoked Beef Brisket with Pimento Cheese served on Griddled Garlic Toast.” The barbecue sauce was sweet and chunky.

The heat was starting to get the best of us, until we went to The Almond Orchard booth for a cool treat. The Banana Almond Soft-serve Sundae had fresh berries and crunchy chocolate-covered oats on top. Light, cold and delicious. Thank you Blue Diamond Almond Breeze!

After a little shopping in the air conditioned stores, it was time for our Beverage Seminar. We took part in a wine tasting of Skywalker Vineyards. https://www.skywalkervineyards.com/Story  Each of the wines were great, especially the Skywalker Pinot Noir 2013 – smooth and elegant from beginning to end.

As soon as the seminar was over, we needed to get back to our resort to prepare for our dinner at Victoria and Albert’s. To save time, we decided to use a “Minnie Van” –  quick, cool and quiet. It was nice to chat with our driver about the construction in the area and learned how she and her family weathered the recent hurricane. We arrived at the Grand Floridian with plenty of time to get ready for the evening.

Still scoring? We have now sampled 6 out of 40 stops.
